Coping with Frustration

Waypoint Message

Frustration is a normal part of life. Everyone feels it sometimes. Maybe it’s when something doesn’t go as planned, when you feel misunderstood, or when things feel totally out of your control. The good news is you don’t have to stay stuck in that feeling. With the right tools, you can move through frustration in a healthy way. This Waypoint gives you three easy and powerful strategies using music, your senses, and your breath to calm your mind and body. These are tools you can use anytime and anywhere to feel more grounded, clear-headed, and back in control.

Success Strategies

1. Music Mood Shifter
Create or listen to a playlist with songs that calm, inspire, or cheer you up. Let the music guide your emotions. Try naming the feeling you want to move toward—like calm, hope, or strength.

2. The 5-4-3-2-1 Grounding Tool
When your mind is racing, pause and focus on your senses:
5 things you can see
4 things you can touch
3 things you can hear
2 things you can smell
1 thing you can taste or something you’re thankful for
This helps you feel present and settled.

3. Mini-Meditation
Close your eyes, breathe in deeply through your nose… and out slowly through your mouth. Do this for one minute. You can silently repeat a word like “peace” or “okay.” Let your breath lead the way.
