Stop Mind Reading

Waypoint Message
You can't read minds, and it's important to remember that you don't truly know what others are thinking. Have you found yourself thinking, “They’re mad at me,” “They probably think I’m annoying”, even if there's no evidence. This is known as mind reading, it's a common trap that can lead to unnecessary anxiety. Instead of making assumptions, try asking for clarification or telling yourself, “I don’t actually know what they’re thinking.”
Success Strategies
1. Catch the Guess
When you notice a thought like “They must think I’m...,” pause and say: “That’s a guess, not a fact.”
2. Reality Check Script
Use this line: “I’m not sure what they’re thinking, and that’s okay.”
3. Ask If You’re Not Sure
If it’s safe and appropriate, ask: “Hey, are we good?” or “Can I check in about what you meant?”
